SENDAT is delighted to be working with Active Leaning Trust, Chantry Academy and Suffolk County Council to support new specialist provision from January 2022.
SENDAT will employ and manage the specialist staff.
Peile will be Key stage 3-4 classes at Chantry Academy.
Students in these provisions will benefit from being able to access mainstream classes and have specialist SEND classes to meet their personal needs.
“We are delighted to be working SENDAT to enhance provision for Children with SEND in Suffolk. We see this as an important gap in provision and compliments the inclusive nature of Active Learning Trust Schools and Chantry Academy” Craig D’Cunha Executive Head
“SENDAT has a history of developing new provision. We will be pulling on our experiences especially at Stone Lodge and Priory Schools. This partnership is good to support high quality SEND provision” Lawrence Chapman CEO SENDAT
The curriculum offer will be designed around the needs of students. It is likely that English, Maths and Social development will be taught as Gipping classes, with access to mainstream classes for some specialist subjects such as Art and PE.
Students will have access to both SENDAT and Chantry enrichment offers and the SENDAT 20
We are working with Suffolk County Council to add new classrooms to Chantry. We are keen that the classrooms are part of the school and not stand alone. When we have more information we will post about them.
Admissions will be through Suffolk County Council. Students in these classes need to have a full EHCP.
Students are likely to have Cognition and Learning difficulties, Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD) as primary need, which can no longer be supported within mainstream school with support within local offer (eg outreach)
