Pupils in the primary department are grouped according to learning styles and developmental stage, rather than by chronological age. Each class follows a curriculum appropriate to the needs of the pupils, based on guidelines from the Early Years Curriculum, the National Curriculum and the P-Scales. Progression, with overlap, is evident from the Wrens class through to the Kingfishers.
