Developing Vocational Provision

We are working on plans to develop a vocational training centre in Fakenham for student over 14 years.

We have been working with Norfolk County Council to take over the former Millennium Building and some of the surrounding land.

We expect to use the land for horticulture and land based training. We hope to convert the inside of the hall to deliver vocational training for 3-4 different areas.

We need to find grant funding to make the building safe and useful for teaching.

The Vision

To develop a space for pre 16 students with SEND and mainstream to gain vocational and work related skills which will support their other school courses and lead into post 16 provision.  Mostly, students will do 1 day per week at the vocational centre.

These young people will be supported through the Centre in making connections with the local community, businesses and employers to progress to their next stage of their life and maximise their opportunities for their future, promoting social inclusion and economic development.

Schools will need to pay for the places.

The Millennium building will be the main base for the centre and will eventually have an office space with reception, toilets and student room for breaks/lunch etc, at least two teaching areas, probably cycle maintenance and lawnmower repairs, together with storage area for horticulture.

The outside space will eventually hold raised beds and a poly tunnel (planning permission required
